The Second Annual Golfing For Hearts Tournament and Symposium was a huge success. The weather was perfect for golfing. We had 56 golfers and over 70 participants total at the dinner reception. Mary Pat Ryan from Nationwide Children Hospital shared about the unrecognized need of helping the heart center patient families. She also shared the details of how the funds raised from our 2007 tournament had been used. In particular, GFH has provided the following: 240 meals for families of Heart Center patients during child’s hospitalization; gasoline for families of Heart Center patients so they could visit their child in the hospital or bring child to essential medical visit; bus tickets and medications; two months rent for family of heart transplant patient whose father lost his job because of absences when he was with his child at the hospital; mortgage payment for family of patient with VSD whose mother had exhausted her paid time off and whose father need to be at home with their special needs children; rent for family whose child was awaiting heart transplant; rent for family of patient with multiple heart problems whose parent was laid off. It was touching for everyone to hear that we are making a difference!
From our 2008 tournament, we raised over $7000 for the Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
